[AFRI-Discuss] AFRALO ALAC election now open

Dear all, 

The acceptance period for candidates for the open seat in the At-Large
Adivsory Committee (ALAC) ended on September 28th and resulted in two
candidates standing for election:

Mrs Hawa Diakité
Mr Philemon Kissangou

In accordance with the election timeline announced by the Secretariat on
September 8th ( see
http://atlarge-lists.icann.org/pipermail/afri-discuss_atlarge-lists.icann.or
g/2008q3/000633.html), the election period will start now and run until
October 19th at 2359 UTC. The winner of this election will be announced on
October 20th.

The question to be put will be:

³Which candidate shall be elected Member of the At-Large Advisory
Committee with a term to commence at the conclusion of the ICANN Annual
General Meeting for 2008, and expiring at the conclusion of the ICANN AGM in
2010?²

With possible answers:

Hawa Diakité (incumbent)
Jean Philemon Kissangou
Abstain

If biographies we received in advance of the election they are linked to the
ballot. 

The election will be conducted via the BigPulse online voting system. Each
ALS representatives will shortly receive an email with his or her voting
credentials  sign-in name and password). There will be a link in that email
that should lead you to the login page. The representatives of the following
ALSes are allowed to vote in this election, with each ALS having one vote:

AFRALO Secretariat Election

The nominations for the AFRALO Secretariat resulted in only one candidate
being nominated. The Staff understand that as a consequence, the incumbent
Didier Kasole has been reappointed as the AFRALO Secretariat.
