I should also point out one other point that will be new this year.

The 2013 NomCom may overlap the 2012 in terms of appointing candidates and initial briefings.

In the past, the new NomCom would not sit or meet at all until the previous one finished at the AGM.  

The Board Governance Committee, and the General Counsel have approved a change to that.  The 2013 committee can meet and be brief before the Toronto meeting, so we can get started earlier.  What we will NOT do is actually take applications until after the AGM.  But we can prepare for it ahead of time.

Typically we lose the months between the Selection Meeting of the previous NomCom and the AGM.  Given the tremendous workload of the NomCom, more time is beneficial to the process.

So I may be asking you to appoint your members for 2013 in the next couple of weeks.  But Jackie will continue to be the 2012 rep until the AGM, and the 2012 NomCom is in power until then.  The 2013 is just in pre-preparation phase.

You are correct.  The current nomcom term ends at the commencement of the AGM.  Typically this is held on the Friday of the Toronto meeting.


I am not sure if this year it will be held as usual, as the Board has decided not to hold their traditional Board meetings on the Friday.  I suspect they will announce their AGM plans sometime in the next few months.

 
But you continue to be a representative to the 2012 Nomcom until the
AGM.  There is no artificial end of July date.   Last year the sitting
NomCom had to deal with a matter just days before the AGM.
