Indeed Carlos, you are entitled to your opinion and I want you to know that my arguments are not at all personal.
But it is disappointing to judge, dismiss and belittle ALSes or their representatives for not participating as frequently or for as long a duration as others. We are all equals and should be able to contribute without ridicule or finger pointing of how much (or how little) was done in the past.

As lawyers we can both understand and relate to this- in the eyes of the Bar we are all treated as equals despite the difference of number of years we were called.

This kindof attitude only serves to turn-off those who may want to participate but for whatever reasons have not felt able or comfortable to do so. Indeed I have not been as active before, but there are reasons to that. Unfortunately if I am called out like this, these reasons will never be known. Not because I do not want to share them, but because it comes across as if these reasons do not matter and judgments of my participation in the past have already made.

If I feel this way-- that I am being judged when I am presently participating and giving of my energies and time to LACRALO, then can you imagine how despondent ALSes and their representatives who have not traditionally participated will feel?

We need to recognise that you or I are not the big losers of this attitude, but LACRALO as a whole!
Nobody can doubt your role and contribution in LACRALO, but because you have been able to lead does not mean that we should look down on others. We are a talented region and we must seek out and encourage that talent.

I am happy and grateful the present LACRALO leadership sees this and are making positive steps to build participation and unity. Rather than us crying over the past and singing our own glories for having done more. Frankly, we need to build a LACRALO that is bigger and better than one or two personalities, but is the summation of all our talents and assets.

Kind regards

Dear Cintra.

Sorry, but I don`t think so. You are participating in a actively (and visible) way no more than 6 months, I haven`t heard of you never before.

My feelings are very strong against of who decide not participate, but nevertheless in determinated moments they make opinions about everything. If You want participate in LACRALO now (like you for instance), have all possibilities trough differents sites with information, translation and opportunities for all in differents fields of participation.

Others who wants not participate, like some ALS leaders (with name and surnames), they make speaches without content.

The participation and engagement is a feeling, if you want today, you can.

On the other side, only a few of the actives ALSs, are making in their countries, activities related with ICANN and outreach. Others make ..... (I don`t Know... or directly nothing).

I repeat, the ICANN enviroment to participate is a reality, now. The people Who want to know how participate, today they can. For all of that, we must to stop with the rethoric and make the good policy work a reality and a good common practice.

You know, some of us (LACRALO LEADERS) are very engaged in ICANN Activities, others are flying in the "ubeda clouds".

We need the first ones and no waste the budget with the second ones, except they decide to incorporate to the ICANN real and hard work effectively.

The work of LACRALO is running, but unfortunately we have phantom actors that we need eliminate (in the good sense of the word).

We need to be strict, the circumstances are asking for that.

For that, also, we need to be sincere and honest, so: If you do not want to participate actively (for all who don´t), please come back home and leave the others work, do not waste time and do not interfere with the region development.

At Large community, is seeing what LACRALO is doing, and we need to show our best, not our misery.

my two cents.Carlos Dionisio Aguirre

I understand your sentiment Carlos.

It is important that we not judge the ALSes but rather create an environment which can facilitate their easy and comfortable participation.

Dear All: In a first view: Over 36 ALSs, I can see 19 (dead) no actives.

Considered,

The leaves of information on the ALSs of the LACRALO already are available in

the page Web of AT-Large:

Spanish:

s.htm

English:

He requested himself to the ALSs that wrote up a page introducing his

organizations to the participants of the LACRALO Showcase in Cartagena. In

some cases, if the text were too long, the work group of

Showcase published the information leaves slightly. In case that the ALS

it did not send a document, the work group produced the leaf of information a

traverse of the information available in the page Web of the ALS.
