Dear All:
In case there is any misunderstanding of Jacqueline's comment about the
balloting, you should know the following:
The instant-runoff voting system used for all elections by the ALAC
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instant_runoff) will return a winner in
one round of voting. That is a built-in element of the voting system.
The ballot does require that each voter must indicate their preference
for each of the candidates on the ballot. This means that the winner
will be the person who, overall, is given the highest preference across
all the voters.

The person who is chosen by the ALAC as Board Liaison should be a
representative of the GLOBAL At Large, and not of LAC or EU or NA or
AFRI or
AP. To me, this sort of thinking is very parochial and narrow minded,
and
will probably not lead to a decision which is in the best interests of
ALAC
and the At Large.
I appreciate Alex's points re his support of Vanda, but I reiterate that
the
document from LACRALO can list multiple names, and the EURALO has indeed
already submitted a 2-name listing to the ALAC.
It is NOT either/or.
Again, considering the number of candidates in the election, it's almost
certain that there will not be a clear winner on the first ballot, and
the
election process that is used by the ALAC requires that the ALAC members
who
will be voting choose MORE than ONE candidate on the ballot.
