It's basically inevitable.

Lacking effective internet governance structures we have multi-billion
dollar corporations acting unilaterally as vigilantes or, perhaps put
better, warlords with code as their armed militias in the spirit of
Lessig's "Code is Law".

But hey keep debating travel reimbursements oh right no one travels
anymore but whatever.
