ccNSO members adopt the proposed ccPDP4-IDN policy

The ccNSO membership supports the ccNSO Council recommendation to adopt the
proposed IDN policy. After ICANN80, the ccNSO Council expects to submit the
proposed policy to the ICANN Board of Directors for its consideration.

In preparation of each ccNSO Council meeting, a written update regarding
the work by the various working groups and committees is drafted. It
includes information about the current status, next steps and what the

ccNSO welcomes Lebanon ccTLD as member

At its 204th meeting held on Thursday, 18 April 2024, the ccNSO Council
approved the ccNSO membership application by the Lebanon (.lb) ccTLD
manager. With the addition of the .lb ccTLD Manager - Internet Society
Lebanon - the ccNSO currently numbers 177 members.

The ccNSO warmly welcomes .lb to its membership and looks forward to a
fruitful collaboration!

Community and Technology Alliance (RICTA), a non-profit organisation that
represents the interests of the Internet community and manages both the .rw
country code top level domain (ccTLD) and the Internet Exchange point of
Rwanda (RINEX).

Welcome to the ICANN80 Policy Forum here in our beautiful Kigali, Rwanda,
having returned to Africa after being held in Morocco in 2016. This forum
provides a venue for people to connect, negotiate business deals, learn
about the latest policies and best practices, but also to interact with
members of the ICANN community.

I encourage all travellers to catch a glimpse of the magnificent gorillas,
take time to visit the beautiful hills and volcanoes, and not to forget to
join the ccNSO Memorial Visit on Tuesday afternoon, organised in

Tech Day

Tech Day is a workshop open to all ICANN community members with an interest
in technical, operational, and security topics. Topics on the agenda
include among others DNS Abuse Prevention and Mitigation Tools, security
management practices, lines of defense to protect registries from bad
actors, attacks or malware.

a session, focusing on the UAC work plan and promoting the use of the UAC

the results of surveys to date on UA readiness for ccTLDs and the possible

Policy Update Session

A subgroup of the ccNSO Council reviewed potential policy gaps in the ccTLD
post-delegation processes pertaining to the delegation, transfer,
revocation and retirement of ccTLDs. At ICANN79, the ccTLDs explored some
of these gaps. At the ICANN80 session the group will discuss the next steps
with the community.

Moreover, ccNSO Council received questions from the ccPDP3-RM ICANN Board
Caucus, related to the implementation of the proposed review mechanism
policy. Alejandra Reynoso, Council Chair, will update the community on

How ccTLDs contribute to a better world, in pursuit of the UN Sustainable
Development Goals

At ICANN80, the ccNSO Internet Governance Liaison Committee (IGLC) is
organising a session entitled “How ccTLDs contribute to a better world: In
pursuit of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals”.

The goal of the session is to explore how the Global Digital Compact (GDC)
and the 20-year review of the World Summit on the Information Society
(WSIS+20) can accelerate progress towards the United Nations Sustainable
Development Goals (UN SDGs) and the unique role ccTLDs can play in this
pursuit. The session showcases the relevance of the SDGs to ccTLDs and
concrete actions by ccTLDs, as well as partnerships that drive progress
towards their achievement.

Insights on Internet Governance: ccNSO IGLC Releases Paper

The ccNSO Internet Governance Liaison Committee (IGLC) is pleased to

SDGs, and Why They Matter to ccTLDs".

This comprehensive document provides an in-depth examination of the
upcoming WSIS+20 review, the Global Digital Compact (GDC), their
implications for country code top-level domains and the pivotal opportunity
for ccTLDs to influence the future of internet governance.

The document outlines actionable steps for ccTLDs to engage in these global
digital governance processes, highlighting the importance of building
relationships, participating in consultations, and contributing to the UN
SDGs.

New gTLD Pro Bono Applicant Support Program

The Applicant Support Program (ASP) was developed as part of ICANN’s New
Generic Top-Level Domains (gTLD) Program. The ASP is intended to make
applying for a new gTLD or operating a registry more accessible to
applicants who would be otherwise unable due to financial and resource
constraints. The ASP is for gTLD applicants seeking financial and
non-financial support.

Version 2 of the ASP Handbook, taking into account comments received during
the Public Comment period (12 February - 2 April), will be forthcoming in
early June. The website will be updated to reflect this new version of the
ASP Handbook.
