Olivier
As a member interested in the GDPR and deeply involved in the legislation here, I would assume that anyone that have read all the GDPR legislation, the letters exchanged by ICANN with the EDPB, and knowing the WHOIS demand, time will be much less demanded than these 30 hours, since lots of this work will be referred to those documents. However, if you are not so familiar, will experience may be more than those 30 hours, at least in the beginning of this work.
As I read in all correspondence from ALAN, this call for volunteers is demanded previous knowledge. The more you know about it, the less the dedicated time will be for you.
We all are involved in several WG in ICANN itself and our Ralos in particular and will continue to be involved. Balance the time is on each one of us.
Certainly, ask for 30 hours a week for volunteers is too much, will only work if you are full retired and eager to look for something else to fulfill your free time.
For me this is a quite interesting work because is aligned with I am done here (next Monday will record a podcast about GDPR and local legislation and will certainly refer to WHOIS).
Besides the chair/ co-chairs, other members with a previous knowledge will be able to manage the time expended.
kisses

Dear Alan,

I am reading your call for candidates for the EPDP and one thing (in particular) has raised my attention:

Membership in the EPDP is expected to require up to 30 hours per week, starting immediately and at least for the first 4 months, and probably a lower but still significant commitment until mid-2018. The GNSO is also setting some very specific criteria for participation. Although the list may change, the current requirements are as follows:

When we asked about this "up to 30 hours per week" and wondered whether this was reasonable for a volunteer, we were told that this doesn't mean 30 hours of calls per week, but the total number of hours including document reading and drafting could be 30 hours per week.

I still wonder whether this is reasonable to ask from a volunteer. Could these 30 hours per week be pooled?

Kindest regards,

Olivier
