Excellent Outcome for the ALT !!! and whilst I note Harold's point on Gender balance re the Chair/Vice-Chairs... I am not at all concerned, not the least because the voice and influence that both Holly and Veronica will bring to the ALT is 'significant' but also because ALT is of course as close to a balance as you can get with N=5 with this time a 3:2 male:female ratio *BUT* additionally, all three (3) of the four (4) Liaisons (not including the external one to .mobi under current ALAC vote) are female meaning that with ALT and Liaisons bundled as "Leadership" you have N=9 it is 4:5 male:female ratio ... So I think you have all done pretty well indeed! in terms of Gender Diversity for Leadership and representative Roles even though the ALAC current and next for 2016-17 is a 2:1 ratio male:female...

Quality and effectiveness of voice is important not just the basic statistics :-) as you have heard me say many times and will do again, no doubt... What can be improved however to your point Harold s I see *all* the ALAC as being in Leadership roles is if the couple of RALO's who do not have a 2:1 gender balance, looked towards achieving that more routinely...

Great news, Chair and Colleagues!

All names does honor to their nominations. Only I miss gender balance. I consider very important the women opinion in function of leadership.

Congratulations to the big examples that are our Vice-Chairs.

Warm hug

Nominations for the 2016-17 ALT closed on 21 October 2016. Four nominations had been received, one per region:

AFRALO: Tijani Ben Jemaa
APRALO: Holly Raiche
EURALO: Veronica Cretu
LACRALO: León Sanchez

All four have accepted the nomination. Our RoP call for the ALT to be determined by a consensus of the ALAC, and barring that by secret ballot. Given that only one person was nominated for each of the regions involved, I have to conclude that there was no support for any other candidate and I judge there is a consensus that Tijani, Holly, Veronica and León serve as the ALT for the forthcoming year.

I congratulate all four. I could not be more pleased with the team.

All four candidates were also nominated to be Vice-Chair. Veronica declined the nomination and all three others accepted. In my mind, all three are excellent Vice-Chair candidates who I would happy to have on my team.

Holly has indicated that although she is willing to serve, her preference is to focus on the At-Large Review as she would not have the time to do justice to both simultaneously. I will honor that and hereby name León Sanchez and Tijani Ben Jemaa as ALAC Vice-Chairs for the coming year.

Alan
