[ALAC] Congratulations to members of our community

Dear Cheryl,
Dear Yrjö,

it is a great testimony to the competence, track record and personal
qualities of many members in our community, to see that both of you have
been selected for positions on the ICANN Nominating Committee, Yrjö as
this year's Chair and Cheryl as the Chair Elect.

You have both proven your ability to serve ICANN on countless occasions
and I am thrilled that the Board has recognised that you may continue to
serve the ICANN community, albeit in a slightly different capacity.
Facilitating the cross-community range of views on the Nominating
Committee to a consensus is a challenge. I am saying this from personal
experience, having served as a member of the NomCom a few years ago.
What it exciting though, is that you will lead a group of people to find
consensus on ICANN's big picture. It is challenging, but immensely
gratifying too.

Having worked with both of you for several years, I can safely say that
the Board has found excellent candidates and I wish you both every
success in the work you are set to accomplish, with a committee of
exceptional minds chosen by the community, for the community.
