[NA-Discuss] [At-Large] What ALAC said about new gTLDs in 2003

P.S. I wasn't aware that this came from quite so near to ALAC's beginnings. I found it while doing a search for a blog post I'm writing about categories. If I had known it was so soon after ALAC's formation, I probably wouldn't have sent it. Anyway, forgive the snarky tone which seems to come so easily in email.

More to the point, the policy issues have changed not one whit in the intervening time, although it is probably true that because ICANN has offered no real TLD choices to consumers in over 10 years, the DNS is becoming far less relevant to Internet users, who now prefer Facebook by a wide margin.
