Hi all,

Please see the e-mail below.

So, we need to firstly, select a budget liaison for this region to lead the regional budget request development and we need to do this as of yesterday!  Any volunteers?  Until someone steps forward, I will try to keep this moving forward in the mean time.

Secondly, if ANYBODY has a proposal, as outlined in the second e-mail below, please let us know for inclusion for consideration.  Also note that such submissions will have to be in complete form and submitted by Jan. 25.

Please note that we need to have BOTH items completed by next Tuesday, January 25 so we need to fly at this quickly.

Hello Darlene,

As part of the budget request process for FY12, the ALAC Finance and Budget Sub-Committee has requested NARALO to select a budget liaison to lead the regional budget request development.

Unfortunately, there is not much time available to submit the budget requests. The ALAC is expected to discuss the regional requests during its meeting next Tuesday.

To insure we can provide the ALAC with the regional requests in time, it is important to have a regional budget liaison who will take the lead on this. Could you please select somebody in NARALO to fulfill this role? This could of course also be yourself. The person would need to reach out to the regional members, identify the key projects for the next fiscal year (in correspondence with ICANN’s strategic plan), draft a proposal and submit it to the ALAC before Tuesday.

The details for submission of budget requests are listed in the attached email below.

Dear All,

ICANN produces an annual operational plan and budget to accomplish the goals and priorities of the ICANN Draft 2011-2014 Strategic Plan <http://www.icann.org/en/strategic-plan/draft-strategic-plan-2011-2014-27nov10-en.pdf>  (PDF).

As part of the fiscal year operational plan and budget development process for 2012, ICANN has requested that the ALAC submit projects to be considered for inclusion in ICANN's draft Operational Plan and Budget. In turn, the ALAC Finance and Budget Sub-Committee has requested RALO  suggestions for possible project submissions

The deadline for RALO submission of such projects to ICANN is 25 January 2011.

The ALAC Finance and Budget Sub-Committee has requested that the Regional leaders select a budget liaison to lead the regional development of FY12 budget requests. Please inform staff as soon as possible on the choice of your regional liaison.

The At-Large FY12 Workspace provides the relevant information on the new FY12 Budget development process as well as useful background information (see: https://community.icann.org/display/atlarge/At-Large+FY12+Budget+Development+Workspace+-+2011).

Please note: All project requests must use a template which can be found on the At-Large Fiscal Year 2012 Budget Development Workspace.

The following information must be included in the preparation of any project for possible inclusion in ICANN's 2012 Operational Plan and Budget:
* Activity – The project activity being requested.
* Description – A description of the project activity.
* Strategic Plan Impact - How the proposed project activity accomplishes the goal and priorities of ICANN's Strategic Plan or how the project activity will improve ICANN's Policy Development Process. It would also be useful to show that the requested activity advances ICANN policy development process.
* Start Date - When the project activity will start.
* Duration - How long the project activity will take place.

Additionally, the template also requires a breakdown/analysis on what resources (staff support, technical support, language services, telecom support, ICANN meetings) are needed to accomplish the project activity. ICANN Finance Staff will do a budget estimate for each of the resources needed to accomplish the project activity.

The ALAC will review all RALO FY12 budget requests during their meeting on 25 January at 14:00 UTC.  The ALAC will submit their budget requests on 31 January 2011.

Following review by ICANN staff, all FY12 budget requests to be included in ICANN's operational plan and budget framework will be posted for public comment.
