[EURO-Discuss] EuroDIG: Submit your ideas in the Call for Issues!

Dear Betty,

I am not sure whether the question of funding was addressed to me, it should rather be answered by the EURALO Leadership or Staff.

In any case, what I am talking about was not a complicated project, but just a submission to the EuroDIG Call for Issues - see https://www.eurodig.org/get-involved/planning-process/#tab-call-for-issues - to propose that the presence on the Internet of the Creole language be discussed at EuroDIG 2022. The follow-up, if the idea is accepted, will be the standard EuroDIG process, with a working group that will shape up the session.

Let me also remind that the deadline for the submission of a proposal is this Friday, 31 December.

Happy New Year to all,
Roberto

Hi Betty

Happy to learn about the programme.
I personally believe that the Creole will make a very good example.

May I suggest that you submit a brief statement to the call for issues at https://www.eurodig.org/get-involved/planning-process/#tab-call-for-issues mentioning the national programme or any topic related to the use of creole on the internet.

This would also be a great opportunity to present the local culture and languages in the French DOM-TOM.

Cheers,
Roberto

Good morning

Following the interest shown at IGF Italy to the session about use of the Internet by cultural and linguistic minorities - the panel included the communities speaking furlan (Friuli), sardo (Sardinia) and arbëreshë (Calabria) - I believe that we can try a similar session at the European level. I have also contacted UNESCO, who is very much interested, given also that next year marks the beginning of the International Decade of Indigenous Languages - 2022-2032.

Are you part of, or in contact with, any local community that speaks a language that is not the official language of the country? If so, if there is any interest in raising issues related to local languages and cultures I suggest you submit a topic in the EuroDIG Call for Issues at the link indicated by Olivier.

Cheers,
Roberto

EuroDIG News

Submit your ideas in the Call for Issues!

The Call for Issues for EuroDIG2022 is open until December 31 on eurodig.org<https://www.eurodig.org/>. With the UN Internet Governance Forum just over, there are many relevant ideas and open questions to be discussed.

Each person or organisation can submit up to three topics relating to Internet governance from a European perspective. This is not a call for workshop proposals, rather, we want to find out what the key topics for next year should be. The more people contribute ideas, the more diverse the programme will become. More information and the submission form: https://www.eurodig.org/get-involved/planning-process/#tab-call-for-issues

EuroDIG@ IGF

From December 6-10, this year’s Internet Governance Forum took place in Katowice and online. You can find the official output materials here: https://www.intgovforum.org/en/content/igf-2021-outputs

The EuroDIG community gathered for a networking session which can be re-watched on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jn9qMV5sB3Q
Sandra Hoferichter, EuroDIG Secretary General, also moderated the NRI main session on the role of the Internet in times of crisis: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0hWiUBXdFtc

Have you spread the word about the EuroDIG messages at the IGF or in other fora? Let us know via office at eurodig.org<mailto:office at eurodig.org>!

Youth at EuroDIG

We are happy to announce that YOUthDIG, EuroDIG’s programme for young people aged 18 to 30, will take place again in 2022, coordinated by Nadia Tjahja and shaped by a committee of former YOUthDIG participants. The Call for Applications starts on January 10.

The European Commission has declared 2022 the European Year of Youth<https://ec.europa.eu/commission/presscorner/detail/en/IP_21_5226>, and YOUthDIG will certainly contribute by being a forum for capacity-building, networking, and advocacy in digital policy.
