<p dir="auto">Thanks for this news. This will be a sad occasion, but it’s very good to hear of the plan. Unfortunately I’m committed to attend the ICANN meeting in USA during the same week so it won’t be possible for me to attend in person.</p>
<p dir="auto">However, during APNIC 56 in Kyoto during September, where we’ll celebrate APNIC’s 30th birthday, we will also include tributes to Toru as a key figure in APNIC’s formation and early years. You will hear more about this in due course.</p>

He was the Chairperson of the Japan Internet Association, Chair of the Executive Council of the APNIC, and President of Tokyo Internet (ISP), and generously supported the AP* organization activities including APRICOT, APIA, APTLD, and AP* annual retreats. He was one of the most active members of the global Internet policy and governance activities from Asia Pacific in the 1990s and 2000s.</div>
