The statement will be sent to the ALAC for vote and further submission to the public comment proceeding.

On behalf of Hadia Elminiawi, AFRALO Chair, this is a consensus call in accordance to article 8.1 of AFRALO operating principles,<https://community.icann.org/display/AFRALO/AFRALO+MOU+and+Organising+Documents?preview=/2261401/186782261/EN%20Operating%20Principles_Dec.2021-Fix%5B1%5D.pdf>  to approve the AFRALO response to the public comment  “Draft Final Report of the 2023 Africa Domain Name Industry Stud<https://www.icann.org/en/public-comment/proceeding/draft-final-report-of-the-2023-africa-domain-name-industry-study-21-12-2023>y


On 21 December 2023, the Public Comment opened. The comment will close on 08 February 2024.


On Monday 29 January<https://community.icann.org/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=297369693> 2024 AFRALO Chair held a call open to all AFRALO members to review and discuss the document. The following AFRALO members volunteered as penholders: Hadia Elminiawi<https://community.icann.org/display/~hadia.elminiawi>, Hervé Hounzandji,  Levy Syanseke<https://community.icann.org/display/~levy.syanseke> and Adebunmi Akinbo<https://community.icann.org/display/~adebunmi.akinbo>.


On Wednesday, 31 January<https://community.icann.org/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=297369701> 2024, Hadia Elminiawi presented an overview of the Draft Final Report of the 2023 Africa Domain Name Industry Study<https://www.icann.org/en/public-comment/proceeding/draft-final-report-of-the-2023-africa-domain-name-industry-study-21-12-2023> and the main points from the perspective of AFRALO.
