Thank you for your email. In response, please see my statement below:
I am honoured to accept this nomination. Between 2016 and 2020, I have had
the privilege of serving the AFRALO Community as Secretariat and would love
to continue contributing in another capacity as ALAC Member (RALO). As
Secretariat, I participated in several working groups and supported
regional leadership and members, helped to curate 2 volumes of the AFRALO
Newsletter

organised Joint AFRALO-AfrICANN

and outreach and engagement activities.
I have also served in other capacities: I was the ICANN Fellowship Mentor
from At-Large for ICANN66 and ICANN67. I am always happy to give back to
the fellowship program, having joined the ICANN community through the
Fellowship and NextGen programs. I have participated in the Africa Strategy
Working Group (ASWG) in 2018, AFRALO Operating Principles Review Working
Group, ALS Mobilisation Working Party, At-Large Review Working Party,
Consolidated Policy Working Group (CPWG), Technology Taskforce (TTF),
Finance and Budget Subcommittee, Outreach and Engagement, Social Media
Working Group, among others.
Outside the ICANN Community, I am a Marie Curie Research Fellow on Open
Design of Trusted Things (OpenDoTT <https://opendott.org/>), a joint
programme between the University of Dundee and Mozilla, exploring how to
build a more open, secure, and trustworthy Internet of Things (IoT). My
project explores possibilities for smaller-scale local IoT technology and
how communities and neighbourhoods can be supported in making the best use
of them. Previously, I was a Ford-Mozilla Open Web Fellow hosted by
Research ICT Africa, and working on broadband performance and Internet
measurements. I also continue to contribute to Internet policy and capacity
building through the Internet Society Uganda Chapter.
