Dear All,I must start by saying that we have quite a large house and indeed a closely knitted family ties in AFRALO which everyone must respect for the sake of keeping the aims and objectives well upheld for posterity sake.
I need us to please consider all the rules as laid down and comply accordingly as we drive the changes, hopes and aspirations of all Africa affiliates, and indeed the interest of development goals in ICTs, etc. across the globe.
My plea is that all recommendations of the working group, ALSes or individuals should be critically considered without prejudice and discrimination.
Many thanks for our objective and constructive inputs at all times.
I love this family. God bless.

Dear all,
It's good that we are seeing a lot of new members to the group. However I just like to provide some clarification on process. The work of the ROP WG started since 2014 with members joining along the way. There are a number of recommendations that the working group have drafted and that is what was presented to the ALSes during the general assembly in ZA.Those recommendations and the new one that has been proposed by Pastor Peter will all still come back to the ALSes for their consideration and approval. I am saying this so that people within AFRALO will understand the following:
1. The ultimate decision is not within the ROP WG but for the entire ALSes within AFRALO.
2. Whatever the working group come out with is a draft that will still come back here to the larger group for consideration.
3. There are a number of recommendation that the working group is discussing and that of "term limits" that has just been proposed is just one of them.
4. The work of the working group is open and can be followed on the wiki even if you are not a member of the group, you are free to provide your comments on the wiki: https://community.icann.org/m/mobile.action#page/48350515

I think we need the full complement of this house to debate this, so the group should be open to all.

I think this working group must remain open to all because it is virtually all members who are intersted.

Dear Abiola,
Thank you for your comments. I think it beats the purpose to say there is a problem and not point it out so that it is sorted once and for all. Please help us identify the problem so that we can find solutions together. I am now getting confused.
That aside, I have always known AFRALO to be a family where problems get solutions, but most importantly people help each other. We need to continue in this same spirit.
I agree with Barrack; we need to take this to the Rules of Procedure working group, which you are all invited to join.
Thank you,
Sarah

I don't think Pastor Peters' motion is embarrassing. I think it's a well-thought out presentation. The truth is, we need to discuss the issues contained in it, perhaps we might know why it was drafted in the first place, which could prove valuable going forwards.
AFRALO is a united body, as evidenced by the solidarity shown in Johannesburg. Perhaps we could even be more united, more democratic, more transparent, more discerning in the nearest future. The motion presupposes we have some problems. Why shouldn't we thrash them out once and for all.

 ENGLISH AND FRENCH VERSION
Hello everyone,
By reading all of you, I wonder what the real problem is?
1. Are these leadership positions?2. Are these people problems?3. Are these problems of linguistic predominance?4. Is this the length of representation?
In short, what are the real concerns?
Since the creation of AFRALO, the rules of procedure have never been disputed. The members have always been elected according to the procedures of the constitutive texts and according to the required standards.
Can we understand that there are special arrangements?
This motion by Peters was to be presented as soon as the situation first appeared, which seemed embarrassing.
However, what is important for Afralo is that we need credible, reliable, dynamic, united, enthusiastic, critical and tolerant people with a sense of democratic values, always listening to others.
We especially need realistic people who demonstrate in their respective countries and in the different platforms extra ICANN.
We must privilege both qualitative and quantitative diversity while remaining united.
FRANCAIS

Dear Silvia,Hope this meets you well? Please help to have this document circulated to the ALAC-REGIONAL LEADERS Mailing list for their information.I hope this will equally generate interest for discussion as there appears to be a common trend amongst all the leaders at the Regional Levels to perpetuate themselves in office and representations in ICANN to the disadvantage of the whole group. We shall continue to have this discussed and debated in AFRALO to move it forward.Thanking you for your assistanceBest
