Ben and Barrack,

Thank you for initiating the discussion on the topic. If Aziz proposed this particular theme, it was because it is the topic under discussion now in ICANN and the Internet Governance eco-system in general. Yes the issue of the ICANN accountability and Governance process proposed by the staff raise several concerns, but also the IANA function stewardship transition process made and is making us concerned on several aspects. So, the theme is broad and has high importance for the ICANN future, and the one of the internet governance as well.

I’m happy that BEN volunteered to be on the drafting team (we already worked together before), and I’m sure that with Fatimata, Mohamed, the AFRALO leaders and all those who are wanting to participate in the drafting effort, we will come up with a good statement to be submitted to the LA AFRALO/AfrICANN joint meeting for discussion and adoption.

Barrack,

Perhaps, but we should seriously consider joining all the other

communities. Scroll down to the bottom of the article where the full text

of the joint letter sent to ICANN is posted. We should focus on that text.
