Dear all,

The e-mail below invites us to participate in a 90 minutes webinar (on-line
seminar) about ICANN policy development. It’s a very interesting interactive
presentation that the ICANN Policy Staff will do (possibility to ask
questions during and after the presentation). I will participate.

I do encourage you to participate by sending an e-mail to
gnso.secretariat at gnso.icann.org and indicate that you want to participate in
the 20 may webinar. You will have to specify which session you choose (12:00
UTC or 19:00 UTC) according to your convenience.

Unfortunately, this webinar will be delivered in English only. This will
limit the number of African participants.

WEBINAR: Policy Development at ICANN

How You Can Help Shape the Future of the Internet

20 May 2010 at 12.00 UTC and 19.00 UTC

On Thursday 20 May at 12.00 UTC and 19.00 UTC, ICANN Policy Staff will host

a webinar that introduces newcomers to the world of ICANN and policy

development. The webinar will provide an overview of ICANN as an

organization, what issues ICANN policy addresses, who develops policy at

ICANN (and how), and most importantly, how you can become involved and help

ICANN to shape the future of the Internet. This webinar provides useful,

actionable information to you if you are wondering whether a role in

Internet policy development could benefit your or your organization¹s

long-term goals.

The two sessions are duplicates, scheduled to accommodate different time

zones. Each session, scheduled to run for 90 minutes, will be conducted in

English only. The meeting will be run in Adobe Connect with a slide

presentation along with a dial-in conference bridge for audio.

Participants will have opportunity to ask questions at the end of each

session. During the course of the webinar, questions may be submitted using

the chat function of Adobe Connect. If you are not able to participate in

either of the live sessions, the slides and MP3 will be made available

shortly after the meeting. The policy staff is always available to answer

any questions that you email to policy-staff at icann.org.

In order to participate, please RSVP via email to the GNSO Secretariat

(gnso.secretariat at gnso.icann.org) to receive the call details. Please

indicate which call you would like to join, 12.00 UTC or 19.00 UTC (to

convert those times into your local time, see:

http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedform.html). We will send you an

e-mail reminder before the event with log-in and dial-in details. Please DO

NOT RSVP to any other ICANN staff members e-mail address.

About ICANN:

To reach another person on the Internet you have to type an address into

your computer - a name or a number. That address has to be unique so

computers know where to find each other. ICANN coordinates these unique

identifiers across the world, so that there can be one global Internet. The

Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) was formed in

1998. It is a not-for-profit partnership of people from all over the world

dedicated to keeping the Internet secure, stable and interoperable. It

promotes competition and develops policy on the Internet¹s unique

identifiers, primarily the domain name system (DNS), IP addresses, and port

numbers. For further information, please visit http://www.icann.org
