Colleagues,

I know this is not necessarily of interest to all ALS or unafilliated members
in the North American Region, as it is jurisdictionally specific. However,
jurisdictional authorities do have public interest agendas.

Here is an excerpt from the FTC announcement:

The staff of the Federal Trade Commission will extend the public comment period
for "Dot Com Disclosures: Information About Online Advertising" -- the business
education publication discusses how federal advertising law applies to advertising
and sales on the Internet.

At the request of a stakeholder, the comment deadline has now been extended for
30 days until August 10, 2011.

The original (2002) version of "Dot Com Disclosures: Information About Online
Advertising" is available at this link (83 pp, .pdf):

The May, 2011 call for updates is available at this link:

The portion of the public interest the FTC is charged with, within a political
jurisdiction is summarized in this statement:
"The Federal Trade Commission works for consumers to prevent fraudulent,
deceptive, and unfair business practices and to provide information to
help spot, stop, and avoid them."

Eric
