I have recently joined th na-discuss list on behalf of ISOC-NY, of which I'm
secretary. Some background, if I may.

We have, for some time, been members of the NCUC where we were
represented by Danny Younger. Late last year he stepped down and,
while continuing to be a member of the chapter no longer represents us
in ICANN affairs.

We have, subsequent to Danny's departure, formed an ICANN special interest
group http://isoc-ny.org/wiki/ICANN_SIG and two new representatives -
Aaron Williamson (works with Eben Moglen) and Erin Simon (NYU Law graduate) -
have been recruited.

We were invited to join the NARALO by Luc Faubert of ISOC-Quebec in early 2007.
There was a long, and occasionally spirited, discussion as to whether this would conflict with
our NCUC membership. http://isoc-ny.org/wiki/ICANN_ALC Eventually, with input from many
including Wendy Seltzer, it was decided it would not.

We are, in fact, yet to actually establish a renewed presence there at the NCUC. It
is a higher priority for us to become an active and involved member organization
of At-Large.

We look forward to hosting further ICANN-related events like our forum on WHOIS
a couple years back. http://punkcast.com/1064/
