>From the ICANN Board meeting minutes:

"Paul Twomey provided information that ICANN will be
undertaking a public consultation on representations
that it has received from the ITU on .INT and
accompanying policies. The US Department of Commerce
has written to ICANN asking for advice from on the
steps being taken to advance the issue and ICANN will
be replying separately. ICANN currently administers
.INT as part of the IANA function."

FYI: The registration policies of ICANN's .INT
registry have impacted the IGO community (as the
registry allows only one registration per IGO;
accordingly an IGO cannot register both its name and
its acronym/abbreviation). This is one part of the
argument calling for enhanced protections for IGOs.
The topic may become part of a PDP if the GNSO Council
votes to approve consideration of the subject matter
at the upcoming San Juan session.
