Hi Folks,

As your Interim Chair for the North American RALO, I'd like to
discourage a practice that has crept into list participation over the
last month: cross-posting to this list and other lists. Although a
public interest item well may be of general interest to persons on
many mailing lists, please post to each of the lists separately. The
problem is that the responses segment the discussion, as people
respond to lists to which they are not members. As messages bounce,
we end up getting bits and pieces of discussions posted here, and
it's really very confusing. I'd also like to keep us focused on the
most immediate issues at hand: the MOU and the upcoming San Juan
meeting. Darlene has posted a number of helpful comments, so please
follow up on those if you have more input.

For those of you who are new to the ALAC and the NARALO, I'd be
interested in hearing about how you find these email lists as a
mechanism for discussion and work. Are you getting too many messages?
Not enough? Prefer moderated lists? Do you prefer working via
conference call? wiki? We should explore various alternatives as we
strive to make our tools work best for our schedules.

        Bret
