<p>I fully support Eduardo in these comments and think that it is an
excellent idea for NARALO to submit separate comments directly in
response to the current ICANN review of the fellowship program. It
seems the more comments that are posted to this process the more
weight that the organization gives to them. We saw that in the
budget comments and thus I agree that besides the ALAC comments
which those of us from NARALO have contributed, we should also
submit our own comments to the Fellowship comment process. <br>
</p>
<p>I actually started to promote this program last year prior to
Rightscon. At Renata Aquino Ribeiro's suggestion Loris Taylor
submitted it to the WSIS for a WSIS prize. We were nominated as a
semi-finalist but we did not receive enough votes to make it to
the final round. Renata Aquino also as a IGF Mag Member pushed
for the Mag to select our Past Ambassador Matt Rantanen to be the
Civil Society speaker at the Closing of the IGF. This was the
launch of our international campaign. These three things taken
together were our push in 2017-2018 for our program and it was
really beginning to pick up traction and get noticed by other
groups. It is a shame we could not continue and build on this
momentum<br>

initially focused to US and Canada. In July 14, 2017, <a
href="https://www.icann.org/news/announcement-2017-06-14-en"
style="color:rgb(149,79,114)" moz-do-not-send="true">ICANN
announced</a> the creation and adoption of a formally
structured program to outreach to these communities all
over the world and named the program the “<b><i>Global
Indigenous Ambassador Program” (GIAP). </i></b>During
the last year we saw fellows participating in ICANN
meetings from US, Canada, Columbia and Bolivia indigenous
communities. <span></span></font></p>

throughout the world. We believe that this abides to
the wishes of ICANN to be inclusive and demonstrative
that they include this sector of our society as part
