Hi All,

I would like to nominate Waqar Ahmad for the ALAC position.
He has expressed his sincere interest in the ALAC position. With a
comprehensive background in the telecommunications sector and a deep
understanding of Internet governance issues, he is eager to contribute to
the advancement of the global Internet community through active
participation in ALAC.
Holding a Master of Engineering degree in Networks from Toronto
Metropolitan University and certified as a Project Management Professional
(PMP), his professional journey in various roles has provided him with
valuable insights into the complexities of the telecommunications industry.
His experience includes drafting technical documentation, managing DNS
infrastructure, and overseeing networking projects, all of which directly
align with ICANN's mission to ensure the resilience of the Internet in the
region and act for the benefit of global Internet end-users. Additionally,
his expertise in technical solutions, IP address management, and routing
security supports ICANN's core objectives of maintaining the security and
stability of DNS operations and combating cyber threats.

His involvement in Internet governance extends beyond his professional
capacity. As a member of organizations such as NARALO, NASIG, ARIN, the
Internet Society Canada Chapter, Canadian IGF, IETF, IEEE Toronto local
section, and ITU, he has actively engaged in discussions surrounding policy
frameworks, stakeholder models, and emerging trends. These engagements have
deepened his understanding of the multifaceted issues facing the Internet
community and have prepared him to contribute meaningfully to ALAC's work.

While he is a new individual member of NARALO and has not yet been directly
involved in ICANN's policy development process and its working groups such
as CPWG, he is making efforts to be involved in policy discussions. His
active participation in conversations within At-Large, CPWG, NARALO, and
UASG meetings has motivated him to take a leading role as an ALAC member.
Besides that, he is the volunteer member of UA working group for North
America and he is keen to leverage ICANN's multi stakeholder approach to
policy making to ensure an open, safe, and accessible Internet for all.

In conclusion, he believes his unique blend of technical expertise, policy
understanding, and passion for Internet governance motivates him well to
serve as an effective ALAC representative for North America. He is
committed to collaborating with fellow stakeholders to address the
challenges facing our global Internet infrastructure and to advocate for
the interests of end-users.

Thank you for considering his nomination for the ALAC position. He looks
forward to the opportunity to contribute to ICANN's mission and goals.

Best,
Rookayya Gulmahamed
