My Dear Friend Alberto:
While I understand your plight, please permit me to disagree with you. It
is real easy to conflate your immediate needs with that of LACRALO. But in
this case it is not necessarily so.

My use of the word 'principle' to signal my opposition was intended to
convey the most conservative sense of its meaning.  Sylvia took the time to
explore the principle I referred in greater detail. My thanks to her.

When you use language as a delimiter, it sends the wrong message.  We see
its fruit in the culmination of that unfortunate exchange between ISOC
Mexico and Bango Barbados.

As Sylvia pointed out, some of us have worked very hard to remove language
as a barrier to LACRALO's efforts. It is therefore reasonable and not
irrational for one to read this insertion as intention to exclude.

My preeminent interest is not about who goes to Singapore. As you'd note by
now, others have proposed other candidates using standards they think would
be universal. Ironically, Carlos, Sergio and others would have been
excluded in earlier days from making their contributions to LACRALO if the
language discriminant now proposed was adopted.
