 On behalf of Maureen Hilyard, ALAC Chair, we would like to announce the 2021 call for nominations for positions of ALAC members, RALO leaders, and ALAC delegates to the NomCom.

 Positions open to voting:
 LACRALO's leadership positions are listed below.  * Member of ALAC- (Sub region A) Central America and Mexico (Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama). Term: AGM 2021-AGM 2023
 * Vice President - (Sub region B) - Andes (Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela) Term: AGM 2021-AGM 2023
 * Deputy Secretary - (Sub region C) - Caribbean (Antigua & Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Cuba, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Lucia, Saint Kitts & Nevis, Suriname & Trinidad & Tobago.
 * Note: This position is currently vacant, due to the resignation of the incumbent. The elected person will take the position immediately (June 2021-AGM 2021) and will take the position of secretary at AGM 2021. Term 2021-2023.
 * Deputy Secretary - (Sub region D) - Mercosur - (Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay) Term AGM 2021-AGM 2023

 Selection Calendar for ALAC Members, RALO Leadership and ALAC Delegates to the NomCom:

 * May 10, 2021 - Announcement of call for nominations and declarations of Nominees.
 * May 10 - May 21 - Nomination Period (Nominations accepted for 10 business days)
 * May 28 - Deadline for acceptance of nominations.
 * May 31- June 04 - Calls with candidates, if the RALOS wish it.
 * June 07 - June 11 - Elections (If required, elections will begin no later than one week after the deadline for acceptance of nominations and end no later than two weeks after said deadline).
 · AGM 2021 [ICANN 72] - Elected ALAC members and RALO leaders will take their positions at the end of AGM 2021, after the ICANN Board meeting, October 28, 2021.
 Nomination Process:

 1. Regional Rotation: Confirm that you are a member of an ALS from the country corresponding to the position for which you are applying.  Criteria for Delegates to the NomCom:

 The NomCom is responsible for selecting members to the ICANN, ALAC, ccNSO and GNSO Board of Directors. This is an important role and all candidates must meet important criteria:

 * Familiarity with the ICANN groups appointed by the NomCom (Board, ALAC, GNSO, ccNSO).
 * Ability to judge people (such as when interviewing and hiring).
 * Feeling comfortable and preferably fluent in English (listening, reading, speaking).
 * Good online skills, such as on Google and social media.
 * Time Commitment: You must be willing to spend considerable time on tight deadlines (March-June). It will involve traveling up to 4 meetings.
 * Ability to work in a group environment, defending what you believe in a discussion with other "strong" people, but at the same time, you must be a good listener and be willing to change your mind if someone else has a good argument. Diplomacy is important.
