 On behalf of Maureen Hilyard, President of ALAC, we would like to announce the call for 2020 nominations, for positions of ALAC members, RALO leaders and ALAC delegates to the NomCom. 

 Positions: 

 LACRALO's leadership positions are listed below.  * Vice President - CENTRAL AMERICA (SUBREGION TO: Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama). Note: This position is currently vacant, due to the resignation of the owner. The Vice President will complete the remaining term and become President in 2021 
 * Member of ALAC – CARIBBEAN (SUBREGION C: Antigua & Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Cuba, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Saint Vincent and The Grenadines, St.Lucia, Saint Kitts & Nevis, Suriname & Trinidad & Tobago) 
 * ALAC Delegate Delegate to the Nomcom - MERCOSUR (SUBREGION D, Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay)

 Terms: 

 * ALAC: The term for the ALAC will be from the end of the 2020 Annual General Meeting (AGM) until the end of the AGM 2022. 
 * Vice President: The Vice President will take his position immediately, until the end of the 2021 AGM. In accordance with the provisions of the LACRALO Operating Principles, the Vice President will become President from AGM 2021 to 2023. 
 * ALAC Delegate to the NomCom: Voting members of the NomCom are appointed for a period of one year, beginning at the close of the 2020 AGM and ending at the closing of the 2021 AGM. New delegates may be re-elected for an additional term. one year subject to the requirements set forth in the ICANN Bylaws <https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/governance/bylaws-en#XI-2.4e> . Each RALO may make one or more recommendations for ALAC consideration. However, the ALAC will select the final Delegate. 
 Selection Calendar for ALAC Members, RALO Leadership and ALAC Delegates to the NomCom: 


 * April 27, 2020 - Announcement of call for nominations and nominee statements. 
 * April 27 - May 8, 2020 - Nomination Period. 
 * May 15, 2020 - Deadline for acceptance of nominations. 
 * May 18 - May 22, 2020- Calls with candidates, if RALOS wishes. 
 * May 22 - May 29, 2020 - Elections (If required, elections will begin no later than one week after the deadline for acceptance of nominations and end no later than two weeks after that deadline). 
 * AGM 2020 [ICANN 69] - Elected ALAC members and RALO leaders will take their positions at the end of AGM 2020, after the ICANN Board meeting on October 22, 2020. 

 Nomination Process:

 1. Regional Rotation: Confirm that you are a member of an ALS of the country corresponding to the position to which you are applying. Only organizations that have been formally accredited to LACRALO (ALS) can participate in the election as nominees or nominees or occupy positions as "observers <https://atlarge.icann.org/individual-members/lacralo> ”Of LACRALO are excluded from nominating and being nominated and voting.

 Criterion for Delegates before the NomCom: 

 The NomCom is responsible for selecting members from the ICANN, ALAC, ccNSO and GNSO Board of Directors. This is an important role and all candidates must meet important criteria: 

 * Familiarity with ICANN groups appointed by the NomCom (Board, ALAC, GNSO, ccNSO). 
 * Ability to judge people (such as interviewing and hiring). 
 * Feel comfortable and preferably fluent in English (listen, read, speak). 
 * Good online skills, such as Google and social media. 
 * Time commitment: You must be willing to spend considerable time on tight deadlines (March-June). It will involve traveling up to 4 meetings. 
 * Ability to work in a group setting, defending what you believe in a discussion with other "strong" people, but at the same time, you must be a good listener and willing to change your mind if someone else has a good argument. Diplomacy is important.
