 Dear All, 




 We would like to announce the schedule for the selection of members to the ALAC LACRALO 2015-2017 to replace Cambronero Fatima.


 The Calendar is: 


 Selection for calendar member of LACRALO to ALAC for 2015-2017: 




 · August 6 - Announcement of the call for nominations and nominees statement. 
 · August 6 to August 19 (23:59 UTC) - Nomination Period (Nominations accepted by 10 working days). 
 · August 26 (23:59 UTC) - Deadline for accepting nominations * 
 · August 28 (at 00:00 UTC) - September 04 (23:59) - Elections or confirmation Survey (If required, the elections begin no later than one week after the deadline for accepting nominations and end no later than two weeks after the deadline for accepting nominations) 
 · 2015 AGM [ICANN 54] - Newly elected to the ALAC representatives took their seats on the ALAC at the end of the AGM 2015 AGM on Thursday October 22, 2015.


 * All nominees must submit a short statement explaining why they think they are a suitable candidate. The statements of the nominees will be published in the LACRALO wiki. Nominees also must complete or update their Statements of Interest (see: <  https://community.icann.org/display/atlarge/At-Large+New+SOIs+Workspace> 


 Criteria for ALAC Members: 


 According to Article 5.4.1 of <  https://community.icann.org/display/LACRALO/LACRALO+Organising+Documents> 




 · 5.4.1 The LACRALO will choose two (2) individuals to serve as representatives to the At-Large Advisory Committee of ICANN, on the terms specified in the statutes (Bylaws) of ICANN. Only those who have been accredited ALS before the election may vote. Each accredited ALS will have one (1) vote. Elected representatives must be members of different ALS, have residence in one of the countries of the region and their nationalities will be different. Elected representatives have the responsibilities described in the bylaws of ICANN; 


 According to Rule 8 of the <  https://community.icann.org/display/LACRALO/LACRALO+Organising+Documents> 




 · Elected representatives must be members of an accredited ALS; Y 
 · Having your principal place of residence in a country of the region of LACRALO; Y 
 · You can not be of the same nationality as the regional representative of the ALAC (this excludes candidates from Argentina and Brazil); Y 
 · After an election, the affiliation, residency and nationality shall be taken into account with respect to the person acting as representative in front of the ALAC on behalf of LAC selected by the NOMCOM; and you need to understand and respect the obligations and responsibilities of the members of the ALAC (see <http://tinyurl.com/ALAC-RoP-2013-04> http://tinyurl.com/ALAC-RoP-2013-04 - specifically sections 4.9, and 14.5) and Attachment 01 ( <http://tinyurl.com/ALAC-RoP-AdjDoc1-2013-06> http://tinyurl.com/ALAC-RoP-AdjDoc1-2013-06, Section 1-3) 


 Candidate presentation at a meeting Ad-Hoc: 


 Ad-Hoc A single call will be scheduled for after the nomination period.In this call to all candidates who have been accepted, they were asked to give a brief presentation of why they think should be elected. LACRALO members may ask questions of the candidate (s).

 The rules applicable to the various situations that might arise in nominations are explained below: 




 In the case of multiple nominations: 


 · The standard method of weighted calculation will be used, and the candidate with the most votes will be declared the winner (LACRALO Operating Principles, Article 8 (Updated March 4, 2009 by the General Assembly of LACRALO General held at the ICANN meeting in Mexico. Please note that Article 8 should be read and interpreted in conjunction with Article 12 referred to the vote (Rules of Procedure of 2007 &lt;  https://community.icann.org/display/LACRALO/LACRALO+Organising+Documents> 


 In the case of a tie:


 · A random selection conducted by LACRALO leaders and supervised by the At-Large will be used to define the draw (UN GA Rule 132 [93]). 


 In the case of a single candidate: 


 · It is applied precedent. LACRALO community to conduct a survey. If the majority (over 50%) of members responding to the survey NOT counting abstentions indicated, then the selection process for the position in the ALAC will be restarted with a new call for nominations. Otherwise, the candidate will be nominated.
