Subject: ATLAS II: some updates
From: fatimacambronero at gmail.com
Dear,
As I mentioned in another thread, I am sending some updates about
Working Group II of ATLAS and the different sub groups that have
formed, by which we are working for the meeting in London,
specifically for the Summit of all ALS At-Large.
Apologies for the lengthy e as is necessary to cover several issues.
* Objectives * ATLAS II: The objectives [1] ATLAS II are:
-Strengthen the structure from bottom to top of the At-Large community
through the creation of skills and awareness of
policies of the At-Large process involving ams 150 ALS;
-Further develop capabilities At-Large Community to
participation in ICANN by increasing their knowledge and understanding
of the key issues facing ICANN and the functions and
responsibilities of ICANN;
-Making plans for the next stage of community development
At-Large/ALAC;
- Allow ICANN demonstrate to the world a key component of
bottom-up multistakeholder environment at a crucial time for
ICANN and for the model of multiple Internet stakeholders.
* Charter: * This group of ATLAS II has a Charter [2] for establishing
major groups have been formed to cater for all needs
of the meeting in London.
* Working Groups: * ATLAS II, which is the "large group" has been sub-divided
in different Sub-Working groups [3] for a better organization of
work is needed to arrive at the meeting in London with
activities planned, orderly and concrete.
* Quines can be part of these Working Groups *: All
At-Large members, whether delegates from ALS or not, and to attend
reunin London or not. These groups are open to the participation of
anyone interested in helping with the organization of events
They will have before and during the meeting in London.
Aququisiera remember I sent invitation to participate in these
LACRALO all groups on several occasions, both in the mailing list
and calls. The participation of members remains LACRALO
low in comparison with other RALOs.In the meeting was returning from Singapore
insist on the need for more members of our region is
involved in these working groups, or those who appear as members
in the different groups actually have an active participation.
* Quines will participate in the meeting in London *: At the meeting of
London will attend a representative from each accredited ALS ALAC, which
are people who have completed the survey that was sent to them and
have been included in the list of discussion of ATLAS II Participants. In the
ALS case of having a representative role membership desempee
ALAC chosen by the region (in the case of our THIN, Dev and I) will
ALAC member attend in representation of ALS).In the case of
ALAC members targeted by the NomCom (Len in our case), they do not
are considered representatives of the ALS (well may have been chosen because
as a member of ALAC NomCom targeted by someone who was not part of
ALAC any accredited ALS in this case coincides way besides Len
part of an ALS), and for that ALS ALS irel delegate such that
is reported as such (in the case of ISOC Mexico, the delegate being
Alejandro).
* Cul is the schedule of events for the meeting of estplaneando
London: * One of the Working Groups, the Event [4] esttrabajando
in this schedule of events, mainly by Tijani. May
find that draft at the end of the Wiki.
Aqume like to make some clarifications. Of this group of events, such as
podrn see on the Wiki, there are several members of our region. The Co-Chair
This group is Sylvia Leite (she podrcompartir more information on
this group).
This sub-group events, two sub-groups were detached ms:
* Communications * [5] that this by Natalia, Carlos Aguirre and
Maricarmen Sequera, and the Working Group * Mentoring * [6] that this my
charge, which also Natalia, Sylvia joined Josy, a group
* Content Manager * London activities (that are formed
the meeting in Singapore, still do not have a link to share) that
this by Wolf and Evan, this group was the one who reformlas Sessions
Thematic of the meeting in London.
Therefore, several of the group who formbamos Event
we split this group to take care of other sub-groups and to
divide the work to be performed. Podrn solicit ms
information about each sub-group responsible for the same.
-Regarding the * Group * Mentoring Program [6] last week
Singapore decidique are going to make several changes. These changes will
to be published in the Wiki (in section referred to the draft
This program, which is now going to be published
amended) and will send an email first members
group to perform the appropriate settings, and then all
Participants of the meeting in London.
The objective of this program is that all participants of the meeting
London, especially those attending for the first time, they can
effectively utilize the meeting, not only planned activities
for At-Large, but the general reunin ICANN. It should be noted that the
most activities of ATLAS II planned for this reunin ESTN
mainly for the first weekend (saturday and Sunday) and all
surely they will overlap with other sessions of the general meeting.
The rest of the week has the normal activities for At-Large, except
the wrap-up on Thursday.
Anyway who have committed to attend the meeting of
London funded by At-Large know that their priority is to participate in
planned activities and ATLAS II since this is the aim of
this meeting. In the remaining time, each assistant serlibre
participate in the meetings of the general agenda of the meeting of ICANN.
Plug-In Mentoring Program, and for better YMS
informed participation in the meeting in London, the Working Group *
* Capacity Creation (which also I am part) estorganizando
a series of Webinars [7] also focused on the needs of the
survey that they send all participants in the meeting of
London, and also have been adjusted to meet the recent
events. These Webinars will begin to develop in
We next few das, so I already estarenviado information about them
das, schedules and how to participate.
-Regarding the thematic * Sessions *: original thematic Sessions
emerged from a survey of participants of the meeting is sent
London, and as I overtake an email from Singapore due to
recent developments affecting the governance Ecosystem
Internet in general, these thematic sessions have been modified. The
new thematic sessions [8] attend these events. These
Thematic sessions will run in parallel, so it is solicitque
prioritize cules were interested in participating (overlap, you can not
participate in all). I'm asking if you are going to send a new
survey to re-elect in thematic sessions cules want
participate or if you are going to drive by post to the lists. Just have
Answer this procedure, report them. [Upgrading: me
just been informed that ESTN deciding to qumanera are to choose how
participate in the new thematic Sessions].
At present, this group * Files * can estbuscando quin
lead these thematic sessions. Therefore our member if sb
THIN feel qualified to take on this role or work in this role,
ESTN invited to join this task. You can send an email to Eduardo
Daz (eduardodiazrivera at gmail.com) who is the Chair of ATLAS II indicating
their interest in working on this.
The draft agenda of the meeting in London I work estprevisto
at three different times in these thematic sessions.
Aqutambin would like to share a concern that I have raised in the
reunin Singapore. Of these five thematic sessions that will run in
parallel, only two of them will have simultaneous interpretation, and
Sern those with higher turnout. The argument is that
assigned rooms have no room for interpretation booths.
My comment on the meeting in Singapore was that this seemed to me a
despropsito, because if I estreunin At-Large is estrealizando with
order to achieve the inclusion of ALS in At-Large and in addition is
seeks to build capacity in our ALS, does not seem appropriate
limit from the beginning the efficient participation in all sessions
previews, but that should be involved in choosing those that provide
Simultaneous interpretation. The need is not only for interpretation
our region of Latin America and the Caribbean, also share many ALS
of Africa whose main language the French. Unfortunately the
final words were no space in all the rooms
interpretaciny booths that will only bring in the two sessions
with the largest number of attendees.
As vern much work and they still have much estrealizando
be done. Therefore all members of LACRALO, especially
who will participate in the meeting ESTN invited to London
join some of these efforts to collaborate and provide what is
available to everyone.
They will be cut from me getting information about the Mentoring Program
during the next scheduled week.
I hope you have been answered several of the questions that were circulating.
Best Regards,
Fatima Cambronero
