[lac-discuss-en] Suggested changes to the timetable for LACRALO elections

Dear All,

In reviewing the timetable for the election of LACRALO chair and
secretariat (https://community.icann.org/x/WoNwAg), I have several
concerns regarding the timing for the necessary activities for the
election process.
I have three suggestions that I hope the chair and secretariat and the
rest of LACRALO will agree on.

1) timing of the first LACRALO teleconference with candidates between
March 8-15 2013

It is already March 11 2013 and unfortunately, no doodle have been
sent to the list as to a time for this first teleconference.
To allow time for the candidates to prepare, I suggest that once the
candidates have confirmed they are available for the monthly LACRALO
call on March 18 2013 at 2300 UTC, that we use the time normally
allocated for the capacity building part of the LACRALO call for the
conversation with the candidates. If not, then a doodle for a
conference call with the candidates could be done on March 19 2013.

2) timing of a possible second LACRALO teleconference with the candidates.

I doubt there would be a need for a 2nd conference call, but if there
is a need, I would suggest a time of Thursday 21 March or Friday 22
March 2013 with a appropriate Doodle being sent to LACRALO members as
to a suitable time.
If there is no need for a discussion with the candidates, then the
time could be used for the LACRALO Governance WG.

3) The voting scheduled for April 9-16, 2013

The ICANN public meeting in China is from April 7 to 11 2013. With
At-Large Staff being very, very busy during this meeting, with the
chair and secretariat flying to and from the public meeting, the
voting should be done at a different time. I suggest that after the
possible second LACRALO teleconference with the candidates, and the
candidates have reconfirmed their intention to stand for elections,
the voting could start at March 26 2013 and end April 2 2013. This
would allow for At-Large Staff to conduct the vote and the secretariat
to release the results before the ICANN public meeting.

I trust my suggestions will be considered by the LACRALO chair and
secretariat and supported by the rest of LACRALO.

Kind Regards,
