Work Team [Pre Call Introductory Email]

Dear All,
Greetings everyone!
For the benefit of those who could not make the call today, there was some
basic introduction of the draft text within the sandbox, and also that
which is in the Reference section. To access this, visit:
https://community.icann.org/x/3AQeAg
When you visit the sandbox, you will see our drafting instructions where
essentially we are tasked with looking at the Definitions and Structure of
the ALAC. We had briefly introduced the draft text which you can see on the
wiki which is prepared that way for your ease of reference.
Today's call more or less was about a bird's eye view of our work.
*Salient Points arising out of today's dialogue*
- Draft text needs to be leaner;
- Certain definitions should be removed;
- Certain definitions should be added;
- Separate appendix for Acronyms;
- The need to work closely with other Groups to monitor developments
that intersect with ours;
In terms of moving forward, we have the benefit of drawing from the vast
experience of At Large veterans who are in our group. There needs to be
some sort of Work Plan for our Drafting Team. Because our scope is limited
to Definitions and Structure we need to start work on this whilst being
flexible at the same time.
*Suggested Task for this Week Due 15th August, 2012*
*
*
Work on existing Definitions first. [We should not worry at this stage
about new definitions although we can flag them and come back to it later.
If there are potentially new definitions, we can comment on the wiki about
terms to add.] We can divide this amongst us. There are 18 of us and we
have 16 definitions.
You will see from the table below, that we have names assigned to the
terms. So, please see the term which is beside your name. You will be
responsible for reviewing the current definition, feel free to insert your
comments, look into the bylaws etc. We do not have to wait for the next
call. Feel free to consult each other, talk to some of the veterans, etc.
So in this instance you will see Tijani is responsible for reviewing
Assembly etc. If whilst you are reviewing our term, you find that there is
potentially a new term or series of terms that should be defined, please
make a note of it. For now we will concentrate on what exists. There will
be time and space given for new definitions. Let's hope we can get this
done at least by this weekend. Also note comments raised on certain terms
like "delegate" that will be reflected in either the audio recording and/or
transcript/summary. Prepare your comments in relation to the "definition",
and send to the Penholders who will then consolidate and submit back to the
Group for comment and general feedback.
