The U.S. Department of Commerce has submitted the very first request in
the APEC Cross-Border Privacy Rules (CBPRs) system.
There are some pre-requisites for participating economies:
- Confirmation that there is a privacy enforcement agency that will
participate in the Cross-Border Privacy Enforcement Arrangement;
- Notice that the economy will use at least one APEC-recognized
accountability agency; and
- A description of the domestic laws and other legal mechanisms to
support enforcement activities
