Unfortunately Google Translate does not as yet work in real time with
email lists. :-(
But since it works so well as a tool, if the initial translation is not
good enough, since the email contains the original text, a better
translation can be obtained by our colleagues who want such, by using
Google Translate on the original text.
Also, given that I read so much of my email on my phone, it is more
convenient to be able to get the gist of the message immediately, even
if the translation is not perfect, rather than having to switch to
another application (Google Translate) to be able to find out what the
message is about.
Of course I am sure the Staff is working hard on getting better
translation tools, as I am also sure that the translation tool vendors
are working very hard to improve their products. It might be useful for
members of this list to offer their services as volunteers to the
various translation projects to assist in making the tools better suited
to our needs.
