Hello Johnny
I'm confused here - what Ex-President? There was a Secretariat, and 2
ALAC members voted for in the last election. If there was a previous
President, please advise as to who that was, and when s/he was voted
into office...
As far as I am aware, there is supposed to be a count of votes, and then
a calculation of the weight of each vote. If the calculation was in
error, but the votes were correctly counted, the vote is not invalid,
and the rest of the discussion is moot.
Is anyone claiming that the votes as cast were incorrectly counted? If
the votes were indeed correctly counted but the calculation was in
error, then it seems that a democratic process would REQUIRE that the
arithmetic error be corrected, so that the intention of the General
Assembly (as indicated by the VOTES cast) is carried out. If this is not
done, then the General Assembly is effectively bypassed and its wishes
would be disrespected! And that would be terribly anti-democratic.
