Nick:
We need to be mindful not to send mixed messages. As I recall, much was made
of the issue as to whether a liaison to the Board is duty-bound to forward
the views of ALAC as opposed to their individual position.  ALAC undoubtedly
believes that it is the ALAC's consensus that must be represented and not
the liaison's.

If this is ALAC's view, I can hardly see a difference between it and the
RALO insisting that their selected representatives to ALAC be solemnly bound
to reflect the views of the RALO at ALAC.

It is for this reason that when I wish to communicate my personal view, it
is represented at the view of my ALS and not LACRALO.

For completeness, I am obliged to point out that the region does not have to
instruct their representatives to vote in a certain way - though of course
you can do so.

In the other regions, ALAC members listen to the opinions of their RALO, but
they remain free to cast their votes as they would like - though I would
guess that they do take their regions views heavily into account.

solo una aclaración; cada una de las ALS debe manifestarse y votar por
alguno de los candidatos ? o toda la región en conjunto deberá votar por
alguno de ellos?

When we last did, the sense of our community favoured returning Wendy
Selzer.   So unless this list will see new and contrary activity, that
remains the position.
