[LAC-Discuss] LACRALO Teleconference

Dear Andres:

We can certainly place all on the Agenda but if we do so, the discussions
will be strictly time-limited. 

 

It may not be widely recognized but we choose the 3rd Thursday of the month
for the LACRALO teleconference so we could be guided in our own discussions
by the issues discussed on the ALAC teleconference which goes before ours.
This tactic helps us to focus on the current policy discussions.

 

The ALAC policy discussions can be accessed on the ALAC wiki at
https://st.icann.org/alac/index.cgi?22_july_2008 . 

 

The Paris meetings outcomes are also posted on the wiki and websites.
Unfortunately, Spanish translations are not yet available for some important
ones.  I really believe it would be more useful for all of us to read
in-depth and so be informed for our own discussion. 

 

You will recall that a draft document pertaining to responsibilities for our
ALS was developed and circulated .  We requested translation.  This document
was based on a longer ALAC document. However, Nick advised that a query was
raised against that entire document so we are awaiting resolution of that
query before we proceed further. 

 

You will recall that we tabled the discussion on the MOU revision for the
LACRALO GA, whenever that comes around.  Yes, it would be useful to prepare
a draft of your proposal for the list so we are prepared.

 

Regarding the Global ALS Summit, recall we circulated the favourable
decision of the  ICANN Board to the list.  Because of the logistics and real
issues with budgeting and finance, the decision is pretty much Mexico City
as venue.   So I’m not sure we will gain much from reopening that as a
discussion topic.

Thanks for the remind.
 
There are many topics I consider important to discuss. First of all, we
should remind our priority of taking policy issues in the first moment,
specially the main topics related to Paris Meeting.
 
1) Policy Discussion (Paris Meeting Review first).
2) Liason Election - Are the candidates available to be heard?.
3) Other Elections for Lacralo until the end of the year, there are many.
4) The possibility of modifications in the MOU (I made the suggestion before
at the mailing list and also in a Teleconference. Do You prefere that I
extend the proposal in a more formal way?).
5) ALAC Summit - Cairo or Definitely Mexico 2009?
