Dear EURALO Chair, Board, Officers, and Secretary,

Dear At-Large Staff,

Dear EURALO members,

With this message I would like to express my interest in the open position of ALAC member.

I confirm I’ll comply to https://community.icann.org/display/AG/ALAC+Member+Requirements+and+Responsibilities and all other relevant policies (expected standards of behaviour, etc.).
In attachment my SOI (I don’t have a login).

My motivations for this are multiple. I do appreciate the ICANN mission and its motto “One World, One Internet”, the open community with great and friendly support staff (Gisela, Chris, Pari…). Also the great voluntary engagement of amazing people as Olivier-Crépin Leblond, Sébastien Bachollet, Natalia Filina, and many others (Roberto Gaetano, Jonathan Zuck…). I would like to take a more active role closer to this big “family” and hope to get a support – even mentorship – of an experienced EURALO leader.

About my profile: I start to play with networks at early ages (Fidonet), passionate by technology at the service of humanity (connecting people around the world) and businesses. My background is a university degree in Economics & Social Sciences, a second in IT, and a third one from MIT (Strategy & Innovation).  I’m able to work on highly technical projects (ex: ATM Adaptation Layer for IPv6, encryption,…) to end-user applications (first transactional website in 1994) and I like to translate complex things in simple words for everyone. Next to my daily activities more business oriented with a (security) advisory role to both Business & IT, I want to complete to the service of Humanity through Internet Society and ICANN.

My areas of interest for ICANN are:
Defending the multi-stakeholder model (recent example);
Defending end-to-end encryption (bill dropped in Belgium);
Promoting end-user/consumer side of security – “the human firewall” through awareness (www.istrust.org as example);
Building trust on the Internet, I would like to further work on DNS Abuse, WHOIS as topics, with a right balance between security and privacy;
Leverage on my expertise in GDPR.

Thanks for your feedback, and even if I’m not selected, there are other great people, but I had to express my enthusiasm.

Greetings from Belgium,

Frederic Taes.
