Am only a recent ICANN convert (so to speak) but recall meeting Stephane soon after I joined staff in 2012.  He spent time with me explaining how gNSO worked and what Council did.  So kind of him.  Really tragic.  A black Monday indeed,

"This is a black Monday for the ICANN community. I served twice under his leadership. When he chaired the the GNSO Council, I was a member. When he chaired the NomCom I was his associated chair. I admired his capablity to steer complicated discussions to an outcome which was acceptable for everybody. We will miss his bridge-building skills in turbulent times."

This is such sad news. We started together to work for EURid’s Strategic Committee just recently and I was just about to better get to know his personality - private and professional. 

NomCom is considering to nominate Stephane Van Gelder for the Ethos Award which we would seek to be awarded to Stephane posthumously in Panama City.

Would EURALO like je to join?
