[EURO-Discuss] Final preparations for Lisbon GA -- nominations

Hi Bogdan,

first of all, thanks for your support to the current EURALO Officers nomination process prior to Lisbon.

Regarding your notes and comments on TaC, I have seen similar references on other lists recently where most of it is suppositions and not really factual. As you mentioned the CleanIT project and TaC's "involvement" there (...) We had a similar discussion on Swiss lists (Digitale Allmend and others you know) about the "involvement" of the Swiss Pirate party in the CleanIT project what led to some confusion. Actually, it turned out that two members of the PP were invited as *observers" to Brussels meetings of this project what they confirmed. BTW, early 2012 I was invited to such project meetings as well "as a consultant" but I had to refrain for capacity and time reasons. "IF" I would have participated in such meetings, I would have clearly expressed my reservations to such approaches.

And I smell another contradiction here: On the one hand, we are always talking about "multi-stakeholder approach and dialogue", to discuss and exchange with other stakeholder groups like business, government etc. to find some common grounds on IG issues. And once or the other hand, a civil society group is doing so, they may get suspected for "being involved" in suspicious projects and discussions -- what is not really consistent to me (at least).

I share your concerns about clear standings and positioning of civil society (incl. EURALO) on civil liberty issues. But I am not fond of any conspiracy scenarios and suspicions. The work TaC and Yuliya is doing is one facet among plenty of CS engagements in Internet governance -- and I am certain that we all share a common *key concern* to keep the Internet free, open, accessible ...

Therefore let me suggest to keep a sense of proportion and not get carried away.

Best regards,
Wolf
