What Sandra said is very much true: NomCom is not for the
newcomers or<br class="">
for those who have been around for a couple of years. NomCom
selects<br class="">
people for positions that are crucial for the functioning of
the<br class="">
organizations. From outreach to various parts of the community
to<br class="">
understand how the Board, GNSO, ccNSO function, and being able
to<br class="">
actually carry out the interviews and deliberate -- it is
absolutely<br class="">
essential that the person is mature and experienced and has
a<br class="">
proven track record of devoting significant time to ICANN and
actively<br class="">
participating in the community. One needs to understand how
community<br class="">
works, what skills are needed for positions, and be able to assess
the<br class="">
applicants of quite a senior level. <br class="">
Bastiaan's technical and policy experience, his
involvement in both<br class="">
ICANN (and his proven track record of active participation)
and a<br class="">
broader internet community make him a great candidate that can
really<br class="">
represent EURALO and At-Large community "At-Large" on NomCom. So,
