as an individual member of EURALO and as someone who has been<br class="">
involved with ICANN for quite some time, I would like to fully and<br class="">
vocally support the nomination of Bastiaan for the NomCom. <br class="">
What Sandra said is very much true: NomCom is not for the newcomers or<br class="">
for those who have been around for a couple of years. NomCom selects<br class="">
people for positions that are crucial for the functioning of the<br class="">
organizations. From outreach to various parts of the community to<br class="">
understand how the Board, GNSO, ccNSO function, and being able to<br class="">
actually carry out the interviews and deliberate -- it is absolutely<br class="">
essential that the person is mature and experienced and has a<br class="">
proven track record of devoting significant time to ICANN and actively<br class="">
participating in the community. One needs to understand how community<br class="">
works, what skills are needed for positions, and be able to assess the<br class="">
applicants of quite a senior level. <br class="">
Bastiaan's technical and policy experience, his involvement in both<br class="">
ICANN (and his proven track record of active participation) and a<br class="">
broader internet community make him a great candidate that can really<br class="">
represent EURALO and At-Large community "At-Large" on NomCom. So, thanks<br class="">
to Annette for the nomination, this is a great one. <br class="">

_The NomCom is responsible for selecting members of the ICANN Board,<br class="">
ALAC, ccNSO and GNSO. This is a very important function and all<br class="">
candidates should meet important criteria.____<br class="">

__· __Familiarity with the ICANN groups to which the NomCom<br class="">
appoints (Board, ALAC, GNSO, ccNSO).____<br class="">

__· __Ability to judge people (such as when interviewing and<br class="">
hiring).____<br class="">

__· __Comfortable and preferably fluent with English<br class="">
(listening, reading, speaking).____<br class="">

__· __Good on-line skills such as on Google & Social media____<br class="">

__· __Time Commitment - Must be willing to devote substantial<br class="">
time under tight deadlines (March-June). Will involve travel to up<br class="">
