whilst the name of this Webinar might be quite unimpressive,
the contents are going to be sizzling hot. Why? Because in
order to get WHOIS to be GDPR compliant, and therefore in
order for the Registrars and Registries that run WHOIS records
to be GDPR compliant, ICANN has worked with its community to
produce four preliminary interim models - 1a, 2a, 2b and 3.
ICANN then asked its community to indicate preference for a
model and a final interim model was discussed in San Juan. It
is a layered model that requires accreditation to reach the
different layers. The ALAC looked at this, and commented on: <a

The proposal was sent by ICANN to the Article 29 Working Party
immediately after the end of the ICANN meeting in San Juan.
Was ICANN going to get the all clear?<br>

Surely, the response came pretty quickly: on April 11th,
Andrea Jelinek, Chairperson of the Article 29 Working Party
sent this letter to ICANN CEO Göran Marby:

Some observers have said that this is likely signing a death

has gone on record, at ICANN's opening ceremony, through the
voice of its new Assistant Secretary for Communications and
Information and Administrator, National Telecommunications and

) that the US government wants WHOIS to stay.<br>

Which is the reason why I would recommend that you find the
time to attend this Webinar, as the WHOIS debate, having
started so many years ago, might turn out to eat up audiences
from Game of Thrones or House of Cards. (or maybe not)<br>
