Dear all,

as every year by now, EURALO has 5 slots for CROPP (Community Regional Outreach Pilot Program) in the ongoing FY 2016-17. Last Friday, the EURALO Board conducted a call on this issue and decided to launch a call for 2017 candidates via our list.

As you may recall, in previous years we dedicated our travel slots to the annual EuroDIG events; and we had some discussions whether we should diversify our CROPP slots to several events? Unfortunately, we missed some alternative events like RightsCon in Brussels 2017 (last week where Bastiaan participated via another arrangement) and we missed the formal submission deadline (8 weeks prior to the event) for re:publica 2017 early May in Berlin – what both would have been interesting alternatives. Therefore the Board decided to use our 5 travel slots for EuroDIG 2017 (and its 10th anniversary) again.

Presumably, there will be stronger interest among our members to apply for EuroDIG on 6 – 7 June 2017 in Tallinn, Estonia. Therefore the Board agreed on some *selection criteria*, as we designed and applied in previous years already. That means, *preference will be given for applicants / candidates* 

* Who were not (CROPP) sponsored for EuroDIG in the past years;
* Members from Eastern Europe or other “peripheric” parts of our region (South and South East);
* Rather new / incoming members (incl. our individuals) to get a chance;
* As regional aspects are considered, gender balance will be another selection criteria.

As we are under time constraints already, this call for CROPP applications will be rather short ending on Friday, 7 April at lunchtime (12:00 CEST). The Board will review the applicants in a next call on Friday afternoon by selecting the 5 candidates besides 1-2 replacement options. EURALO’s CROPP 2017 submission procedure will start immediately afterwards to respect the deadline.
