Dear All,

As discussed during the EURALO call yesterday, we are now calling for volunteers to help develop the EURALO position on ICANN’s Geographic Regions.

The first task will be to provide input for the public consultation on the interim report of the Geographic Regions Review Working Group which ends on 30 January 2011.  However, the working group will remain active even after the close of the consultation period and prepare a more comprehensive position paper in view of the final Geographic Review report.

In addition to issues of direct concern to EURALO, such as the membership criteria for the European region, we will also look at the global implications of ICANN’s geographic model. In light of the shift in world population and, in particular, the world’s Internet users during the past 10 years, a re-assessment of ICANN’s geographic regions seems adequate.
