[Euro-board] Fwd: CENTR - Bruxelles 10 octobre 2018

Dear Olivier,

based on the model of our MoU with RIPE, this draft is acceptable.

I suggest some minor changes:
- the first Whereas clause should read ‘’Whereas CENTR is a not-for-profit association whose purpose is to promote and participate in…’'
- 5) should read ''Raising awareness about the DNS and its importance in maintaining an open Internet’’
- 6) should read ‘’Collaborating on joint capacity-building events…’’ (with a hyphen between capacity and building).

Best regards,
Jean-Jacques.

Dear Colleagues,

please be so kind to find the revised CENTR-EURALO MoU. Please provide
your feedback as soon as possible. We are hoping to be able to sign
this, provided it is accepted by CENTR, at the IGF in Paris.
Kindest regards,

Olivier

Dear Polina,

thank you very much for your kind response. Please be so kind to find
the original RIPE NCC-EURALO draft which you may edit per your
recommendations below. I look forward to receiving a proposed draft from
you in due course, that I can forward to our EURALO Board.

Having brainstormed the matter of a signing ceremony with my colleagues,
the Paris IGF meeting may indeed be a perfect opportunity for such
signing, whether at the At-Large booth, the CENTR booth or indeed a
venue that might be located within an event by the local CENTR member
(suggested by Sébastien Bachollet, AFNIC Board member). Let's discuss
further.

Kindest regards,

Olivier

Dear Olivier,

I am reaching out today to follow up on the MoU. Thank you very much
for enclosing the respective examples! The one with the RIPE works
the best for us. I suggest we take the EURALO-RIPE document as a
model with a few further rephrasing suggestions below:

* “Whereas CENTR is a not-for-profit association and has an
objective to promote and participate in the development of high
standards among Country Code Top-Level Domain Registries
(ccTLDs) for the benefit of its members and the internet. The
organisation has a European focus.”
* Both parties agree to collaborate in the following ways:[...]

*Rephrase point 2*: Encouraging awareness of each other’s activities
and mission among their respective members.

*Rephrase point 5:*Raising awareness about DNS and its importance to
maintaining open internet.

[...]

The rest of the points can stay as they are in the EURALO-RIPE document.

Please do kindly let me know if you agree with the proposed changes.

Regarding the signing ceremony, it turns out it is quite difficult
to find available time during upcoming ICANN as the schedule is
already pretty tight. I suggest we postpone the signing ceremony of
the MoU to IGF instead in order to leave more room for arranging
this with our members.

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

Kind regards,

Polina

Dear Peter,

thank you very much for your kind follow-up. The meanderings of an
AGM sometimes turn out to take directions that one cannot
anticipate. I have seen that bridge crossed many times in the past.
We'll look forward to our application being discussed in Bordeaux.
In the meantime, following up on your proposal to proceed with
signing that MoU, have you thought of words for the extent of the
collaboration? For your information, I am enclosing again a few
examples of collaborative agreements that have been signed, namely
the EURALO-RIPE document, the NARALO-ARIN document and the
APRALO-APTLD document.
Looking forward to your kind reply.

Kindest regards,

Olivier

Dear Christopher, Dear Olivier,

First of all: my sincere apologies on behalf of the CENTR
community for what happened last Wednesday.

Following the application from .su, the members engaged in a
discussion on the interpretation of our statutes.

These things never end well, and so we had to postpone any
further voting on applications.

This is an exceptional event and a first in my twelve years at
CENTR.

I do hope that you did enjoy indeed the other parts of the
meeting and the opportunity to meet our members.

Practically I suggest that we consider the application at our
next meeting in Bordeaux (March 21-22) and in the meantime
already sign an MoU at ICANN.

I will be there from Sunday till Wednesday.

Best Regards,

Peter

Dear Peter :

Thankyou for the opportunity to attend the CENTR meeting in
Brussels yesterday. I learnt a great deal about your current and
planned activities. In order to brief EURALO correctly about the
information and discussion, I would be glad if CENTR could send
me Links to the principal presentations.

You will understand if I express some surprise and not a little
disappointment about the unexpected outcome at the end of the
meeting, not least in the light of EURALO having funded my visit
to Brussels.

May I suggest that – when the dust has settled - you take an
opportunity to review the position with Olivier, EURALO Chair,
in copy, preferably before Barcelona. I am sure that EURALO
would wish to proceed with our application, this procedural
hiccup notwithstanding.

Again, many thanks for allowing me to participate in your
interesting and instructive meeting.

With best personal regards

Christopher.
