I was under the impression that the reason that one At-Large rep was
added (rather than two as recommended in the BGC report) was because the
Board is considering reducing its own size.

Is that not the case?

Given the youth of At-Large and the nature of the very organizations
that comprise it, I do not expecting that its representative will
necessarily be one of great credentials and history. The person needs an
awareness of ICANN's workings and an acute awareness of how the public
is affected by how ICANN moves. IMO credibility is earned; what matters
to me is what the Board rep accomplishes on our behalf.

Given the option of bringing a great reputation to the Board or making a
great reputation at the Board, I far prefer the second choice.
