I had a similar reaction. I wrote to ICANN privately and asked if they
would postpone these until January to allow more notice and greater
participation. I would very much like to attend one of these
consultations, but unfortunately, I have existing engagements in Los
Angeles during the DC meeting and on the East Coast during the LA meeting!
I would block my schedule for the LA meeting though if I had more notice.
