I completely agree and would add that the flipside of this is that other 
governments (for example, in Europe) take this as a proof that ICANN is just 
a puppet organisation used by the US government to "control" the Internet.
Why is this happening? Why feed conspiracy theorists? Why weaken ICANN? What 
good does this bring to the common table? After all, are we (in the widest 
term) not all supposed to work for the public good?
