Nick:

I believe this development is a good thing and should be encouraged. I
should think most of the issues likely to be raised in ALAC are hardly
unique to any region. So it would be good to learn from the perspectives of
the regional representatives to ALAC, even though some filtering would have
taken place.

Creo que este desarrollo es una buena cosa y que debe ser animado. Debo
pensar que la mayoria de las ediciones que se levantaran en ALAC sea
probablemente apenas unico a cualquier region. Seria tan bueno aprender de
las perspectivas de los representantes regionales a ALAC, aunque habrian
ocurrido algunos que se filtran.

Subject: [LAC-ALS] [ALAC] ALAC Postings and Regional ALS lists

Hello everyone!

As you may have noticed, posts from the ALAC Committee's list are flowing
through to the ALS lists in each region.

This is in order to help the community see and understand the work of the
ALAC, and allow the community more of a seamless opportunity to engage with
committee discussions, either on a regional or international basis.

This is a bit of an experiment - it may be that the additional email load
becomes too large and that some or all regions may wish to simply keep the
regional list for regional issues, and have individuals interested in
following and participating in the discussions with ALAC to join the ALAC
list for that purpose. At the moment, the flow of emails is one-way - from
the ALAC list to the regional lists - and replies sent to the ALAC list
don't go through, and the ALAC list currently allows for the committee
members to post, but all other subscribers are moderated, making the ALAC
list sort-of a fishbowl.

We can of course change any of these arrangements if that is the community's
wish and have the ALAC become a 'global conversation' with the committee,
with the -Announce lists reserved for announcements.

Each region's -Discuss list is unchanged and remains devoted to regional
discussions.

As you all know, the fact that the At-Large community has control of the
configuration of its communications is still a relatively new phenomenon, so
we will have to make up the structure you want as we go along.
