FWIW, demonstrating an electronic device works is often required when entering a US Federal building. 

Other than this, perhaps At Large could start early work on visa process for LA.  London was bad for a few, partly a result of the UK Passport Office's mess <http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-28201491>, but also UK's over-stringent controls.   Doesn't hurt to get these things started early.
